All scholarship applications may be obtained from the Guidance Office.  Please come for info and apps during your lunch or before/after school.

 

Harvard Black Law Student Association Scholarship

In order to be eligible, the student must be African-American, be attending a 2 year or 4 year college or university, and submit an application, essay and a letter from your high school certifying you are a senior graduating during 2005-06 school year.  Deadline: January 10, 2006

 

Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship

The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated boys and girls in the 2006 scholarship competition.  Any high school senior who is a citizen of the United State is eligible to apply.   Applicants will be judged on financial need, leadership and scholarship.  Deadline:  January 13, 2006.

 

Sam Walton Community Scholarship

This scholarship is available on-line from November 1, 2005 through January 20, 2006.  Interested graduating high school seniors need to logon to http://www.walmartfoundation.org/ for more information.  These students will apply for the Sam Walton Community Scholarship on-line at http://www.scholarshipadministrators.net/.  Applicants must use the access code (SWCS) to complete the application process.  No paper applications are available.  The deadline for entry is January 20, 2006.

 

John R. and Aline B. Emens Scholars Program

This scholarship is available for entering freshmen at Ball State University who have been leaders of and actively participated in academic and extracurricular activities in their high schools and local communities.  High school principals, counselors, teachers and superintendents are asked to submit letters of nomination for outstanding students showing strong leadership skills.  If you feel you would qualify, you may ask your counselor or teacher to write a letter of nomination about you and submit it to Mrs. Anderson for approval and further study.  Letters are due by February 10 to be submitted to Ball State on time.  Any questions, see Mrs. Byrd.

 

 

 

 

Educational Communications Scholarship or Who’s Who Among American High School Students

All students who are legal residents of the U.S. and have taken the SAT or ACT examination may compete.  The Scholarship Committee will select semifinalists from applications received by February 24, 2006.  Semifinalists will be notified by March 9, 2006.  Deadline:  February 24, 2006

 

US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce Scholarships

Several scholarships are being offered by the US Pan American Chamber of Commerce.  Some of these scholarships, you must have Asian heritage to qualify for.  At least one, you must be studying Chinese Language or Chinese Studies to qualify for.  If you are interested and think you can qualify for these scholarships, see Mrs. Byrd for further details. Deadline:  February 28, 2006

 

Purdue University Undergraduate Scholarship in Entomology

Applicants with a combined SAT score above 1200 and ranked in the top 10% of their class are automatically awarded a School of Agriculture $1500 Scholarship of Excellence.  Additional awards of $500 to $2000.00 – Eligibility: Incoming freshmen admitted in Entomology and Continuing students in Entomology.  Criteria:  Various combinations of scholastics, character, and financial need.  Deadline:  Open until awards are committed.  Contact:  Amanda Pendleton, (765) 494-9061 at apendle@purdue.edu

 

Toyota Scholars/University of Evansville Program

Toyota and the University of Evansville have joined together to offer high school seniors the opportunity to receive a

$10,000 annual scholarship.  The amount may be even higher based on the student’s high school academic performance.

Over four years, this scholarship will have a minimum value of $40,000.  To be eligible for this scholarship, students must:

Apply and be admitted to UE’s College of Engineering and Computer Science, be a resident of Indiana, make a campus visit by April 22, 2006, have a high school GPA of 3.6 or higher, score a 1730 or higher on the new SAT or 25 or higher on the ACT.  If selected, students will partner with engineers and staff at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana plant, as well as interact with mentors and follow engineering projects from start to finish.

 

US Bank Scholarships

U. S. Bank will award up to thirty $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors planning to attend accredited two-or four-year colleges full-time next fall.  Scholarship award recipients are selected through a random drawing process.  Students can apply online by visiting the U.S. Bank web site at:  usbank.com/studentbanking

 

Colorado State Provost Scholarship

The Colorado State Provost Scholarship award, totaling $20,000 is available to young scholars who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement in high school.  This scholarship is offered to qualified admitted non-resident students who enroll in our 2006 freshmen class.  The award is automatically disbursed over four years ($5,000.00 a year) provided requirements for renewal are met.  Additionally, Colorado State will make available a one-time award of $2,000.00 to Provost Scholarship recipients for use in an approved study abroad experience.  For more info, visit the Student Financial Services website at sfs.colostate.edu (select “Search SFS”  and type “Provost”).

 

ISU Laptop Award

Indiana State University will award a laptop computer to those students who have:  completed an Indiana Core 40 Diploma (or equivalent) and maintained a high school cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher based upon a 4.0 scale. Students must be registered as full-time students and be enrolled in 12 or more academic credit hours.  Admission deadline:  March 1, 2006  Questions? Dorothy M. Walters Scholarship

Applicants for this scholarship must apply for admission to Vincennes University, submit a Walters Scholars application, have letters of recommendation from guidance director, high school faculty member, and someone not employed by the high school faculty member, and some one not employed by the high school and list of all parents and grandparents and their addresses.  Deadline:  March 1, 2006

 

Hispanic Scholarship Fund

To qualify for this scholarship you should:

Louis B. Russell, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is for ethnic minority students planning to attend an accredited post secondary institution to pursue a degree in industrial arts, vocational technology, or technical preparation.  Deadline:  March 3, 2006

 

Damon P. Moore Scholarship

This scholarship is for ethnic minority students planning to pursue a teaching license.  Deadline:  March 3, 2006

 

ISTA CAREER SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is for dependents of an ISTA member.  Deadline:  March 3, 2006

 

ISTA EDUCATOR SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is for dependents of an ISTA member planning to pursue a teaching license.  Deadline:  March 3, 2006

 

National Alliance for Scholastic Achievement

To be eligible to apply you must graduate during the 2006-07 school year, be accepted or anticipate being accepted to a four-year academic college or university, be a U.S. citizen, have a GPA of least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale, complete either the SAT or ACT, provide a letter of recommendation from a teacher or school official, complete app and essay question, and return app by the deadline.  Deadline:  March 4, 2006

 

Jason Baker Public Safety Scholarship Fund

You must plan to pursue a two or four year degree in or related to a career in public safety that may include but need not be limited to forensics, fire, and law enforcement.  You must demonstrate financial need, academic promise, community and/or school involvement and service, good character, citizenship, and a healthy lifestyle, intend to continue to serve the community and preference is given to students attending an Indiana educational institution.   Deadline:  March 10, 2006

 

Mexican Scholarship Fund Ambassador Randall L. Tobias and Dr. Marianna W. Tobias Endowed Scholarship Fund

To qualify for this scholarship a student must:

Mexican Scholarship Fund

To qualify for this scholarship you should:

·        Demonstrate academic promise (GPA of 3.3 or above).

·        Demonstrate financial need

·        Preference is given to students of Mexican descent residing in Indiana

Budd Jump Scholarship Fund

To qualify for this scholarship you should:

·        Demonstrate academic promise

·        Plan to attend an Indiana public university

·        Be a first generation college student

·        Be a resident of Marion County

·        Preference is given to Arsenal Technical High School and other Indianapolis Public Schools.

Deadline:  March 10, 2006

 

The Indianapolis Star Scholarship Fund

To qualify for this scholarship you should:

·        Plan to pursue a degree in any of the following:  finance, marketing, advertising, sale, graphics, customer service, information technology, journalism, management and /or photography

·        Be a resident of Marion County

·        Demonstrate financial need

·        Demonstrate a GPA of 2.5 or above

·        Plan to attend a two or four year degree program at an accredited institution in Indiana

Deadline: March 10, 2006

Walter Blackburn Scholarship Fund

To qualify for this scholarship you should:

·        Demonstrate academic promise with a GPA of 3.0 or higher

·        Demonstrate financial need

·        Be a graduate of a high school located in Marion County

·        Plan to major in design and/or architecture.

·        Preference is given to graduates of Indianapolis Public Schools

·        Preference is also given to minority students.

Deadline:  March 10, 2006

 

Larry C. and Lee Ann Glasscock Scholarship Fund

To qualify for this scholarship you should:

·        Be a dependent of a full-time or part-time Anthem associate.

·        Be a first generation college student receiving a degree from an accredited four-year college or university.  Family members of first generation college students may have attended, but did not receive a degree from, an accredited four-year college or university

*Family included parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, etc.

*Family does not include other lines of descent such as aunts, uncles or stepparents.

*Siblings are considered first generation college students and are eligible to apply for the scholarship.

If siblings meet the eligibility criteria, it is possible for more than one student from the same family to receive a scholarship.

·        Demonstrate academic achievement (GPA of 3.0 or higher).

·        Demonstrate financial need

·        Demonstrate a commitment to community service.

·        Applicants may be high school seniors or current college students.  Recipients will be awarded $5,000 per year for each remaining year of their undergraduate studies (not to exceed four years).

Applications will be available in late December on the Anthem Intranet and are due on or before March 17, 2006.

 

Boys and Girls Clubs of Indianapolis James R. East Endowed Scholarship

To qualify for this scholarship you should:

·        Plan to pursue a two-four-year degree program or a post high school technical or vocational program

·        Be a member or former member of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Indianapolis.

·        Maintain a GPA of C or above

·        Demonstrate financial need and be likely to succeed at the institution of your choice.

Crooked Stick Scholarship Fund

To qualify for this scholarship you should:

·        Demonstrate academic achievement

·        Demonstrate financial need

·        Demonstrate interest and involvement in golf.
